A story of hope.

Today, we have presented how we work in our school and our colleagues got impressed about the way we work in a collaboratively and interdisciplinary way at ÍES Bahia de Algeciras.  We have also learned from their projects and got ideas to share with our high school. 

Then, we move forward and Serge introduces the 17 ODS.

Now, we realise all the building blocks stick to the ODS. The cement for the building blocks is made of values and attitude. What would be the essential values? Words like respect, freedom, equity, care, modesty, loyalty, love, empathy, solidarity, tolerance, open and growth mindset, curiosity, trust, integrity, determination, optimism, dignity, human rights, hope, peace, persistence, willingness, ambition, cooperation, resound in the classroom. 

What about freedom? It’s all about decision. We all have the power to make decisions about our own life’s. 

The vídeo “The Final Minutes of President Obama Farewell Address: Yes, we can” is shown to clarify that with hope and belief we can change.

And now the question of: How can we light the fire of colleagues? GIVE THEM A ROLE, A PLACE, AND VOICE. Then, the fire will come. 

Now, we move onto CLIMATE CHANGE.

We start describing it as a series of events caused by human activity that break the order and have a huge impact on every living on Earth, with an unknown direction, uncertain, fast. It is also creating anxiety and disorder. 

It’s very important to talk with our students about order and disorder and in that way come to a new order and find a new balance.After the course, we spent the afternoon with our colleague Stéphane from Saumur, a town located in northern France. One of the interesting stories he shared was about his experience in Spain. Five years ago, he participated in an exchange program with his students at IES Carlos Cano in Los Barrios, getting to know our region and other Spanish cities. It was a very pleasant evening during which we discussed work, his school's facilities, projects, as well as everyday topics about our lives, history, artists, etc. A truly enriching experience for everyone.We have also been visiting different places in the city. We started with the library, where we were surprised by the number of people, of all ages, using its facilities. It has various spaces that allow them not only to study or read but also to record videos, play instruments, or chat peacefully in a warm and immersive atmosphere. Next, we went to the Cathedral, paying special attention to the altarpiece of the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, created by the brothers Hubert and Jan van Eyck in 1432. After that, we went to the Belfry tower, standing at 91 meters, where we enjoyed its clock and the spectacular views of Ghent. Thus, concluding our cultural visit for today. Tomorrow, we will continue describing our last day of the course, with a bit of sadness due to the approaching farewell.

Hemos presentado cómo trabajamos en nuestra escuela y nuestros colegas quedaron impresionados por la forma en que colaboramos de manera interdisciplinaria en el IES Bahía de Algeciras. También hemos aprendido de sus proyectos y obtenido ideas para compartir con nuestra escuela secundaria.

Luego, avanzamos y Serge introduce los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS).

Ahora nos damos cuenta de que todos los bloques de construcción se adhieren a los ODS. El cemento para los bloques de construcción está hecho de valores y actitud. ¿Cuáles serían los valores esenciales? Palabras como respeto, libertad, equidad, cuidado, modestia, lealtad, amor, empatía, solidaridad, tolerancia, mentalidad abierta y de crecimiento, curiosidad, confianza, integridad, determinación, optimismo, dignidad, derechos humanos, esperanza, paz, persistencia, disposición, ambición, cooperación, resuenan en el aula.

¿Y la libertad? Todo se trata de decisiones. Todos tenemos el poder de tomar decisiones sobre nuestras propias vidas.

Se muestra el video "Los Últimos Minutos del Discurso de Despedida del Presidente Obama: Sí, podemos" para aclarar que con esperanza y creencia podemos cambiar.

Y ahora la pregunta: ¿Cómo podemos encender la chispa de nuestros colegas? DÁNDOLES UN PAPEL, UN LUGAR Y UNA VOZ. Entonces, la chispa vendrá.

Ahora, pasamos al CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO.

Comenzamos describiéndolo como una serie de eventos causados por la actividad humana que rompen el orden y tienen un gran impacto en toda la vida en la Tierra, con una dirección desconocida, incierta y rápida. También está creando ansiedad y desorden.

Es muy importante hablar con nuestros estudiantes sobre el orden y el desorden y de esa manera llegar a un nuevo orden y encontrar un nuevo equilibrio. Después del curso, pasamos la tarde con nuestro colega Stéphane de Saumur, una ciudad ubicada en el norte de Francia. Una de las historias interesantes que compartió fue sobre su experiencia en España. Hace cinco años, participó en un programa de intercambio con sus estudiantes en el IES Carlos Cano en Los Barrios, conociendo nuestra región y otras ciudades españolas. Fue una tarde muy agradable en la que discutimos sobre trabajo, las instalaciones de su escuela, proyectos, así como temas cotidianos sobre nuestras vidas, historia, artistas, etc. Una experiencia verdaderamente enriquecedora para todos. A su vez, hemos estado visitando diferentes lugares de la ciudad. Comenzamos por  la biblioteca, dónde nos ha sorprendido la cantidad de gente, de cualquier edad, que usa sus instalaciones, con  diversos espacios que les permiten  no solo estudiar o leer, si no también grabar videos, tocar instrumentos o charlar tranquilamente en un ambiente cálido y envolvente. A continuación, fuimos a la Catedral, prestando especial atención al retablo de la Adoración del Cordero Místico, creado por los hermanos Hubert y Jan van Eyck en 1432. Después, fuimos a la torre Belfort, de 91 metros de altura, donde disfrutamos de su reloj y las vistas espectaculares de Gante. Así concluimos nuestra visita cultural de hoy. Mañana continuaremos describiendo nuestro último día del curso, con un poco de tristeza debido a la próxima despedida.
