Bačka Palanka. Day 4

En la mañana de hoy hemos podido asistir como observadoras a una clase de Cocina, otra sobre Cuidado del media ambiente y por último, una de Alemán. Al igual que ayer, estas clases vuelven a girar en torno al cuidado del ecosistema. Nos llama la atención sobre todo la clase de cocina, pues a través de ella nos enseñan recetas y algunos métodos para reutilizar los desechos orgánicos, como por ejemplo el “compost”, que es un abono obtenido a partir de desperdicios.

A mediodía, tenemos el placer de degustar junto al director Tomislav, Mileva y María un rico tentempié muy típico de la zona, para pasar posteriormente a visitar el museo de la ciudad y poder así conocer un poco más sobre su historia. También visitamos el hipódromo que aunque cuenta con establos con caballos de diferentes razas, está en desuso desde hace cinco años.

Por la tarde, acudimos al colegio “Vuk  karadčić” donde se da clases a niños desde los 6 años hasta los 13-14años. Allí asistimos a una clase de Inglés en la que los alumnos nos hacen exposiciones sobre los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible. 

Para poner punto y final a nuestro día hemos tenido la suerte de disfrutar de una obra de teatro representada por alumnos y alumnas del colegio de secundaria al que hemos estado asistiendo estos días. Curiosamente, el teatro llamado “Proscenium” está ubicado dentro de la casa de nuestra traductora que se dedica a dar clases de interpretación a los chicos y chicas de la ciudad, contando ya con hasta 70 alumnos/as en sus clases. 

El trabajo de los actores ha sido impecable y a nosotras nos ha encantado a pesar de no haber entendido ni una palabra.

This morning we’ve observed a cooking class, an environmental class and a German class. Just like yesterday, these classes are all about caring for the ecosystem. The cooking class is particularly interesting, as it teaches us recipes and methods for reusing organic waste, such as "compost", which is a fertiliser made from waste.

At midday, we have the pleasure of tasting a delicious local snack with director Tomislav, Mileva and Maria, and then we visit the town museum to learn a little more about its history. We also visited the racecourse which, although it has stables with horses of different breeds, has not been use for the last five years.

In the afternoon, we went to the Elementary School “Vuk karadčić" where children from 6 years old to 13-14 years old are taught. There we visited an English class where the students gave presentations on the Sustainable Development Goals. 

At the end of the day, we were lucky enough to enjoy a play performed by students from the secondary school we have been attending these days. Curiously, the theatre called "Proscenium" is located in the house of our translator, who is dedicated to giving acting classes to the boys and girls of the city, with up to 70 students in her classes. 

The work of the actors was impeccable and we loved it, even though we didn't understand a word .

Bačka Palanka. Day 3

Hoy hemos podido estar presente en dos clases, ambas enfocadas con la sostenibilidad y el cuidado del medio ambiente. Por un lado, una lección  de Ecología , y por otro, una de Matemáticas  y Economía. El desarrollo de las clases nos ha parecido muy similar al nuestro, con la diferencia de que en ambas los alumnos han interactuado bastante con los móviles con permiso de las profesoras buscando información.

Posteriormente, hemos podido conocer al director del centro, Tomislav Đuretić, y mantener una pequeña conversación con él. 

Con Tajtana hemos podido familiarizarnos con el procedimiento para la obtención de la bandera eco.

Finalmente, nos dirigimos hacia la ciudad de Novi Sad, situada a una media hora de Backa Palanka. Esta cuidad fue galardonada en 2022 como Capital Europea de la Cultura y Capital Europea de la Juventud en 2019. La ciudad  posee una arquitectura notablemente diferente a otras urbes serbias. Se caracteriza además por una gran cantidad de bares y restaurante de moda y por ser un espacio de encuentro de culturas. Algunos de los lugares que pudimos visitar fueron: la fortaleza Petrovaradin, la sinagoga y la plaza de la libertad.

A la vuelta, nos esperaba Mileva que nos llevó al lago de Bačka Palanka que hace frontera con Croacia. A este país se puede llegar fácilmente a pie desde la ciudad en la que nos alojamos. 

Terminamos el día con la idea de que a pesar de que es un lugar totalmente desconocido también tiene algunos rincones con encanto.

Today we had the opportunity to be present in two classes, both focused on sustainability and care for the environment. One was an Ecology lesson, and the other was a maths and Economics lesson. The development of the classes was very similar to our school, with the difference that in both classes the students interacted a lot with their mobiles with the permission of the teachers looking for information.

Afterwards, we were able to meet the director of the school, Tomislav Đuretić, and have a short conversation with him. 

With Tajtana we were able to learn about the procedure for obtaining the eco flag.

Finally, we headed towards the town of Novi Sad, located about half an hour from Backa Palanka. This city was awarded the title of European Capital of Culture in 2022 and European Youth Capital in 2019. The city's architecture is strikingly different from other Serbian cities. It is also characterised by a large number of trendy bars and restaurants and is a meeting place of cultures. Some of the places we visited were: the Petrovaradin fortress, the synagogue and the liberty square.

On the way back, Mileva was waiting for us and took us to the lake of Bačka Palanka, which borders Croatia. This country can be easily reached on foot from the town where we stayed. 

We ended the day with the idea that although it is a totally unknown place, it also has some charming corners.

Bačka Palanka. Day 2

Amanecemos en Bačka Palanka. Nuestra anfitriona, Mileva nos recoge en el hotel a las 7.30 am e iniciamos nuestro camino hacia la escuela de secundaria “Dr. Radivoj uvalic”. Nos reciben en la sala de profesores buena parte de la plantilla del centro y posteriormente nos dirigimos con las dos pedagogas a un pequeño despacho donde intercambiamos información sobre el programa eco escuela. La profesora Mileva nos muestra algunas de las instalaciones del centro y en concreto, algunas aulas donde encontramos  macetas con plantas aromáticas plantadas por los alumnos, cubos para reciclaje y para la recolección de tapones de botella. También nos muestra diferentes murales realizados por los alumnos sobre medio ambiente y reciclaje.

Relacionado con el programa, dan visibilidad a un gran jardín botánico privado y conservado por un famoso dentista de la ciudad, considerado el más bonito de Serbia según la opinión de diferentes periódicos de la zona y como algunos lugareños denominan “el nuevo pulmón de Backa Palanka”. ¡Estaba cuidado al más mínimo detalle! Debemos destacar la hospitalidad de sus dueños que nos ofrecieron un rico tentempié a base de zumos naturales ecológicos y dulces típicos caseros.

Al principio de esta visita hemos tenido la oportunidad de conocer a María, una encantadora Serbia que ha vivido durante años en España y que durante el día de hoy ha sido nuestra traductora durante la visita al jardín. Además, nos ha acompañado a seguir degustando su rica y desconocida gastronomía. Desde aquí, agradecer a María su hospitalidad. ¡Hoy se ha convertido en nuestro ángel de la guarda!

We wake up in Bačka Palanka. Our hostess Mileva picks us up from the hotel at 7.30 a.m. and we start our way to the secondary school "Dr. Radivoj Uvalic". We are greeted in the staff room by a large part of the school staff and then we go with the two psychologists to a small office where we exchange information about the eco-school programme. The teacher Mileva shows us some of the school's facilities, in particular some classrooms where we find pots with aromatic plants planted by the students, recycling bins and bins for collecting bottle caps. It also shows us different murals made by the pupils on the environment and recycling.

Related to the programme, they give visibility to a large private botanical garden maintained by a famous dentist of the city, considered the most beautiful in Serbia according to the opinion of different newspapers in the area and as some locals call "the new lung of Bačka Palanka". It was taken care of to the smallest detail! We must highlight the hospitality of its owners who offered us a delicious snack based on natural organic juices and typical homemade sweets.

At the beginning of this visit we had the opportunity to meet Maria, a charming Serbian woman who has lived for years in Spain and who has been our translator during today's visit to the garden. She also accompanied us to continue tasting her delicious and unknown gastronomy. We would like to thank Mary for her hospitality, she has become our guardian angel today!

Bačka Palanka. Day 1

Hoy, lunes 6 de mayo hemos tenido nuestra primera toma de contacto con la capital de Serbia, Belgrado. Hemos podido conocer algunos de sus monumentos más emblemáticos tales como la fortaleza Kalemegdan, diferentes iglesias ortodoxas como la de St. Sava o San Marcos, el parlamento, la plaza de la República y pasear por algunas de sus calles donde se aprecia la huella de la guerra a lo largo de la historia.

Probablemente, mucha gente no sepa que esta ciudad ha sido destruida y construida hasta en 40 ocasiones. 

Antes de iniciar nuestro camino hacia Bačka Palanka pudimos disfrutar de su gastronomía y probar su plato más típico: el cevapi, preparado a base de diferentes carnes y especias. ¡Una delicia!

Nuestro agotador día acaba en el hotel Fontana donde recargamos pilas para el día siguiente.

Today, Monday 6th May, we had our first contact with the capital of Serbia, Belgrade. We were able to see some of its most emblematic monuments such as the Kalemegdan fortress, various Orthodox churches such as St Sava's or St Mark's, the Parliament, the Republic Square and walk through some of its streets where you can see the imprint of war throughout history. Manu people probably do not know that this city has been destroyed and rebuilt up to 40 times. 

Before heading to Bačka Palanka, we can enjoy its gastronomy and taste its most typical dish: cevapi, prepared with various meats and spices. A delight!

Our tiring day ends at the Fontana Hotel, where we can recharge our batteries for the next day.

As part of our Erasmus program "Thinking in green to grow sustainably", two teachers are moving to Backa Palanca in Serbia to carry out a job shadowing period in a school which has the green flag (one of our objectives). During a week, they are going to observe and learn about different aspects related to eco-school. 

Como parte de nuestro proyecto Erasmus "Pensando en verde para crecer sosteniblemente", dos profesoras se están desplazando hasta Backa Palanka en Serbia para llevar a cabo un período de observación en un centro que tiene la bandera verde ( uno de nuestro objetivos). Durante una semana, van a observar y aprender sobre distintos aspectos relacionados con eco-escuela.

Seventh day in Finland ( Helsinforgs ) / Séptimo día en Finlandia ( Helsinki )

Gabriel : Me levanté, me vestí, preparé todo, maleta, mochila, riñonera, móvil... Lo bajé, me hice una foto con la familia y desayuné, cogimos el coche y llegamos a la estación de trenes y me despedí de la familia, pillamos un tren a Helsinki.

Llegamos a Helsinki, dejamos las maletas en el hotel, y fuimos a ver la ciudad, compramos recuerdos, probamos el Glögi, vimos catedrales, una isla y la biblioteca Oodi.

Cenamos en un restaurante y volvimos al hotel, preparé las cosas para mañana, hablé un poco con Antonio y Yeray y nos dormimos.

I woke up, I got dressed, I prepared everything, backage, backpacks, mobile phone... I put It downstairs, I did a photo with the family and get breakfast, we catched the car and went to the train station and I said bye to the family, we catched a train to Helsinki.

We arrived at Helsinki, left our backage in the hotel and we went to see the city, we bought reminds, we tasted the Glögi, saw cathedrals, an island and the library Oodi.

We dinnered at a restaurant and we come back to the hotel, I prepared my things for tomorrow, I talked a little bit with Antonio and Yeray and we slept.

Antonio: Hoy me he levantado a las 8:15 y me despedí de Konsta.La madre me llevó a la estación de trenes y nos despedimos de todos antes de irnos a Helsinki.Fue un viaje de tres horas y cuando llegamos dejamos todas las cosas en el hotel.Lo primero que hicimos fue ir a una iglesia luterana con un coro.Más tarde fuimos a comprar imanes y probamos el gloggi(Una bebida típica de Finlandia)y nos comimos unos perritos calientes.

Nos montamos en un barco para ir a visitar una isla.No la visitamos entera,pero estuvo muy bien.

Cuando volvimos,fuimos a una biblioteca muy grande.Despues de la biblioteca fuimos a cenar.Me pedí una hamburguesa de carne de alce y estaba muy buena.

Llegamos a el hotel,me duche y me quedé dormido

Today I woke up at 8:15 and I said goodbye to Konsta.His mother brought me to the train station and we said goodbye to everybody before we went to Helsinki.It was a three hours trip and when we arrived we left all the things in the hotel.The first thing we did was to go to the lutheran cathedral with a chorus.Later we went to bought some fridge magnets and we tried the gloggi(A typical finish drink)and we ate hot dogs.

We took a ship to went to visit an island.We didn't saw it at all,but It was very good.

When we returned,we went to a huge library.After visiting the library we went to had dinner.I ordered a hamburger with elk meat and It was very good.

When we arrived to the hotel,I had a shower and I felt asleep

Yeray : Goodbye Finland

Hoy me despedí de mi familia, de Jarmo y Eerin en casa, y de Leila y Aaron en la estación de tren.Fuimos de Seinajöki hasta Helsinki.Después, fuimos al Hotel Finn a dejar las maletas. Cuando terminamos de dejar las cosas fuimos a visitar una iglesia luterana, donde había un coro cantando. Luego, probamos una bebida típica finlandesa llamada ‘Gloggi’(estaba buena). Cuando terminamos, cogimos un barco hacia una isla cercana y vimos como era. Cuando vimos la isla fuimos de vuelta a Helsinki. En esta segunda vez, visitamos una gran biblioteca, y después, fuimos a cenar en un restaurante. ¡Estaba todo buenísimo! Finalmente, fuimos al hotel y descansamos. (Me gustaría volver algún día).

Today I said goodbye to my family, of Jarmo and Eerin at home, and of Leila and Aaron at the train station. We went from Seinäjoki to Helsinki. After, we went to Hotel Finn, where we left the suitcases and school bags. When we finished to leaving everything we went to visit a luther cathedral, where there was a chorus singing. Then, we tasted a typical Finnish drink called ‘Gloggi’(it was good). When we finished, we took a ship to a nearby island and we saw how it was. When we saw the island we returned to Helsinki. This second time, we visited a big library, and then, we went to dinner at a restaurant. ¡Everything was great! Finally, we went to the hotel and rested. (I would like to return one day).

Sixth day in Finland / Sexto día en Finlandia

Gabriel : I woke up, got dressed and had breakfast, we picked the car and went to the zoo.

When we arrived, we waited for the other people and saw the shop. Later, everyone arrived and we saw the zoo, with animals like: Panda, Red Pandas, Bears, Deers, Wolfs, Foxes, etc...

After we saw the zoo, we bought things from the shop and we did some snowmans. We picked the car and come back to home, I got dinner prepared my things for tomorrow and closed the backage.

Me levanté, me vestí y desayuné, cogimos el coche y vamos al zoo.

Cuando llegamos, esperamos a los demás y vimos la tienda. Después, llegaron todos y vimos el zoo, con animales como : Pandas, Pandas Rojos, Osos, Ciervos, Lobos, Zorros, etc...

Después de ver el zoo, compramos cosas de la tienda e hicimos algunos muñecos de nieve. Pillamos el coche y volvimos a casa, cené, preparé mis cosas para mañana y cerré la maleta.

Antonio:Hoy me he levantado a las 7 y cincuenta y he desayunado rápido porque me tenían que recoger para ir al zoo.Ha sido un viaje de 1 hora,y nada mas entrar hemos visto a los osos panda.

Después hemos ido viendo pandas rojos,lobos,leopardos de nieve y muchos animales de granja.Comimos en una hoguera con perritos calientes,patatas y pan con carne de reno.Cuando hemos terminado,hemos ido a la tienda de souvenirs y nos han regalado un iman a cada uno.Hemos hecho varios muñecos de nieve muy grandes entre todos,y volvimos a Seinäjoki.Cené fajitas y estuve un rato jugando al ping pong y al escondite y haciendo mi maleta.Me acoste a las 11.

Today I woke up at 7:50 and I had breakfast quite quickly because they had to picked up me to go to the zoo.It was a one-hour trip,and as soon as I entered the zoo we saw panda bears.

Later we saw red pandas,wolves,snow leopards and a lot of farm animals.We ate in a bonfire with hot dogs,chips and reindeer meat.When we finished,we went to the souvenirs' shop and they gave us magnets for all the people.We made some big snowmen together,and we went to Seinäjoki.I had fajitas for dinner and I played ping pong,hide and seek and I packed my suitcase.I went to bed at 11.

Yeray : Day at the Zoo.

Today, we went to the Zoo. At the Zoo, I saw a lot of animals that I had never seen, for example: lynxs, pandas, bears, owls… After, at the Zoo’s shop I bought fridge magnets and keychains. Finally, after dinner, my family gave me some presents. 

Hoy, fuimos al Zoo. En el Zoo, vi muchos animales que nunca había visto, por ejemplo: linces, pandas, osos, búhos… Después, en la tienda del Zoo compré imanes para la nevera y llaveros. Finalmente, después de cenar, mi familia me dio varios regalos.
